Character backgrounds are starting to come in...

Rise of the Runelords

I got my first character background from a player and I'm getting excited because it means we're almost ready to dive into RotRL.

The party makeup is:

Human Barbarian
Human cleric
Human Monk
Witch (unsure of race)
Fighter (unsure of race)
Alchemist (unsure of race)
Sorcerer (unsure of race)

(a little nervous about the size of the party...but that's another post)

Anyway, the Barbarian arrived in Sandpoint a few weeks before the festival and started looking for work. In his background he had been a bodyguard at a brothel so he went straight to the Pixie's Kitten when he Found out about it. I told him that typically Kaye is happy with her 3 Shaonti bodyguards bit one recently got stabbed in a card game at the Hagfish and while he recovers she's short staffed. She hires the PC. It could lead to a fun bit of RP when the bodyguard is healed and comes looking for his job back.

I'll post the records of the sessions when we start playing.

Not so bad. Our party is a linguistically inclined (traded abilities) anti-undead aasimar support cleric of Sarenrae (my character, support & item crafting)

A human fighter-cuisinart from Cheliax, running from people he pissed off. (Bastard sword specialist)

A human gunslinger(musket master) from Alkenstar, on the run after being set up to win a contest he shouldn't have. He ran. Far. People are still looking for him, it seems. They've been spotted in Magnimar. (

An elven wizard are her raven familiar

A snarky elven alchemist

A childlike halfling wanderer with the attention span of a hyper puppy. he pushes buttons, pull levers and handles more dangerous items than the alchemist...

We just finished Burnt Offerings.

Good luck!

Boy that's a big party - so much to keep track of and so little room to customize... combat shoudl be verrrry interesting. I look forward to reading your accounts.

We're seriously debating whether to do RotTL or Second Darkness after SnS (which I have to say will be a hard one to follow)... there's just four of us, but right now what we're thinking is:

Dwarven Two-Weapon Infiltrator Ranger who hates Giants and keeps a wolf animal companion. has some familiarity with the region though not so much the town. The player wants to run him something like Rooster Cogburn in True Grit.

Tiefling Paladin (Oath of Vengeance, Oath Against Fiends), a self-imposed outcast due to his race and the sin he feels he was born into. A bit too dark and withdrawn to be Lawful Stupid but will go to the ends of the earth to hunt down a fiend...

Female Kitsune Sorcerer (Fey Bloodline) who is trying to keep her Kitsune Heritage a secret - she's an adopted member of the Scarzni family, used for her 'special talents' and is loathe to break free of them.

Halfling Bard (Archeologist), a village local and friend of Ameiko who has a knack for getting himself into trouble. A bit of an academic and treasure hunter when it comes to all things Thassilonian.

We had been kicking around the idea of swapping out the Sorcerer and Paladin for a Human brother-sister Barbarian-Archer combo, but while that would give us a tremendous ranged damage threat, we'd lose almost all of our serious spell-casting.

No wizards at all, though everyone can cast spells which is actually par for the course with us, and no humans at all which never happens. As an aside, this will be the first PC group we've had where a certain player isn't running a Summoner or Master Summoner... to tell you the truth, we've kind of enjoyed the crutch and it'll be interesting to see how it works out.

Silver Crusade

I am starting 5 PC's in RotRL on the 17th of this month.

The party is;

Human Witch
Elf Gunslinger
Human Cleric
Human Rogue
Human 2-Weapon Gladiator

Since I will be awarding levels at appropriate times throughout the campaign rather than doling out XP traditionally it gives me flexibility depending on how powerful the party becomes.

I am hoping to report how it goes. I will either link our Obsidian Portal site when there is a new post or add it here.

I know your excitement, Aaron!

Hi.
I'm new to Pathfinder, and trying to figure it out how to incorporate my PCs' backstories in the game, but I already have the motives why which any of them ended at Sandpoint. I'm going to share in case some one finds it inspiring for their own games. :)

Elf Ranger, from Arsmeril. When he come back from a hunt, he found his village turned to stone. He spend many years in his village library to find a something that would break that curse. Reason to be in Sandpoint: his findings led him to believe that Ezakien Tobyn could give him some clues on when to start, so he travels to Sandpoint to talk to him. (Oh he's goint to have a bad surprise!)

Human Fighter, from Old Korvosa. An orphan educated by a weapon's master, that eventually dies, leaving the PC alone but eager to perfect is combat. Reason to be in Sandpoint: He wants to stay away from his past. He is trying to perfect his combat skills and in his travels he stops at Sandpoint.

Half-Orc Magus (Kensai), the PC still doesn't know where he's from. Had a lonely childhood (in a human town), was found one day by a master from Tian-Min who saw potentinal in him. He teach him how to use a katana and use his inner magic to complement his fighting. But one day his master disapear. Reason to be in Sandpoint: He's is follow the path of self-knowledge (his deity is Irori). In order to improve his art he is travelling through all Golarion. One of his resting points turned out to be Sandpoint.

Half-Elf Druid, from Crying Leaf. Her mother was killed and her father is missing. She was bullyed by other elf children and descriminated by the people of her mother's village. She found herself in better company with the animals from the wild. She now wants to find her father (human). Reason to be in Sandpoint: She hopes to find someone in Sandpoint that knows anything about her father.

The next one made a character, but he decided not to play afterfall. Still, someone who read this might find it usefull. :)

Human Sorcerer (Draconic), from Magnimar. He found himself with powers, when no one from his family have (I would say that he is adopted but the PC didn't knew that). Since his parents cannot explain why, he travels through Golarion to try to figure it who he is. However, the PC told me his character is a party person, who loves the ladies, money and games. So the.. Reason to be in Sandpoint: In one of encounters with a lady friend (a Varisian dancer), she told him about Swallowtail Festival in Sandpoint. He could not say no to that! ;)

Hope this inspire other people!!
Best! :D

Halfling Bard (Archeologist), a village local and friend of Ameiko who has a knack for getting himself into trouble. A bit of an academic and treasure hunter

wait a minute, thats my character for Jade Regent, Tibbedo Dragontoe.

The Monk dropped out so the party is:

Human Barbarian
Human Fighter
Elf Witch
Human Alchemist
Gnome Sorcerer
Human Cleric

They're raiding Thistletop tonight. It's not going to go well. They didn't get to Gogmurt before he sent a thrush to Ripnugget. So the whole Fort is awaiting the party. The party is wounded but stubborn, so I'm sure they'll charge in regardless.
And they probably won't check the bridge first, either.
