I wrote up a little piece about how Pathfinder Online managed to get me, an underpaid freelance worker with an unsteady income and an entertainment budget of $0, to pledge $175 on a Kickstarter for a video game.
I'm grateful to Fear the Boot for publishing it on their website. You'll also find an interview with Mark Kalmes there on PFO, both audio and a transcript I provided.

Thanks, everyone! Yeah, I know I'm preaching to the choir posting it here, but if you know anyone who might be on the fence or any better place to link it, go for it if you think it will help. I've been looking at some forums and stuff, and it seems like all the bloodthirsty PvPers are afraid it will be all rainbows and unicorns, while the PvE types are afraid they won't be able to leave town. A good compromise leaves everyone unhappy, so Goblinworks seems to be doing a good job striking a good balance, which is why I'm excited about the game, but I'm afraid a lot of people won't give it a chance because of that.

I enjoyed the article as another person who very likely going to have John dagger in my back I consider you a brother in death? The only open world pvp game I play was Age of Conan where I managed to rack up a death total in the thousand where my kills hoovered about half a dozen and I am sure a couple of those where pure accident when I thought I was killing a npc.
This game sounds like they have the right balance and it not carebear vs pkilller but a real world with all the good bad and indifferent that entails.

For the record, it's Scumbag Steve, not Scumbag John.
Scumbag John refers to the Mark Kalmes interview on the Fear the Boot podcast. John is one of the hosts, he likes to kill people in PvP MMOs for fun. And he's the author of Bloodmoon Goblins, which is in the PDF Superpack.
TheDarkLord: OK, I will.
Diella: Brothers in death indeed. That really makes me not want to try Age of Conan.
