Aasimar Monk- Good Idea?

Advice

Scarab Sages

Along with my Goblin character, I want to make an Aasimar character as well. Most people assume that they're good for Clerics, Oracles, and/or Paladins. But I was thinking something a little different- an Aasimar Monk. Would it be a good idea?

If you pick Angelkin or Lawbringer heritage, you could do alright. The base Aasimar is fairly weak for the Monk class.

Why not, you can customize your stats with Variant Heritages, and if you're GM will allow it you can gain an extra +2 to the stat of your choice via Variant Aasimar Ability. These options would help with the MAD nature of a monk, and still let you be full of celestial goodness. I also highly recommend perusing the Alternative Physical Features chart, you can have lots of fun looking like almost anything you like.Aasimar options

Well, even if you are stuck with the base aasimar, the bonus to CHA might be a blessing, since you can bomb it into oblivion as a dump stat and still do somewhat alright. If you are going point buy, then it lets you have more points to spend on strength.

Plumekith might be best though, since it gives a bonus to both your secondary stats. See invisibility is always nice too.

There is lots to like about the generic/default Aasimar. It would be better if the CHA bump were in another stat, but it's not all that bad...

An Aasimar would work great for the least MAD monk archetype - the Zen Archer. By level 3 WIS becomes the only stat you truly require to get great results from a ZAM.

Darkvision is great, bonus to perception is great, if you dump CHA to 7 (adjusted to 9) the bonus to Diplomacy will be nice if you are playing in PFS. You don't have to be the party face, but Diplomacy checks tend factor into Faction missions a fair bit.

With a plus to wisdom, and no negative, it's kind of like playing a human, or half human. I'm guessing they'd be as good of a monk as anything else.
