Foreshadowing ideas

Rise of the Runelords

What kinds of foreshadowing did you use in Burnt Offerings?
For instance, i am planning on having the characters interact with the three conmen who are murdered in Chapter 2.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

I had a character whose back story was as a local farmer. He would come in to town and trade at the General Store. He would often see Shayliss Vender. Shayliss was always her usual under dressed wild beauty. The young girl paid no attention to the farm boy trip after trip. But when the boy becomes one of the town's heroes, well things change.

So hyping up Shayliss early on will set up several encounters later on.

If you have a Cleric in your party, have them staying at the Temple under the wings of Father Zantus. This will allow some back story about book one's BBEG.

You could have a character who had a family member murdered by Jervis Stoot. This would allow you to open up this interesting side story, even if it may only be a red herring. In my campaing the party had a side adventure against Stoot as a Spectre.

Sandpoint is a rich environment. There are so many ways you can play it.

Let us know how your campaign goes. It is fun reading about the twist and turns different campaigns take through the same adventure.

Foreshadowing for Nualia: have peddlers selling remnants from an aasimar, touting their healing properties: ivory nail clippings, pearl babyteeth, strands of hair etc. Have folks look for similar items from paladins, and good-aligned clerics, or very high-Charisma PCs (“My, you’re as pretty as an angel!”. Have them feeling uncomfortable with this sort of attention might help them see where Nualia is coming from.
