So, I launched our RotRL game last night, and it went smashingly well.
My three players all seemed to enjoy it, and we gamed for roughly 3 hours (minus some toddler interruptions) and they made it through all of Burnt Offerings part 1 and some of part 2 (misc bits of the Local Heroes stuff.)
Funny thing is, my wife is playing her rogue as a very Robin Hood-esque character. When she first saw Aldern Foxglove, hiding behind barrels while his hunting hound died, she figured he was a rotten egg, so she robbed him when he schmoozed on the party after his rescue.
Awesome, right? She ended up anonymously leaving some of the gold she robbed with a needy family (the family that will, soon, have a goblin in the closet ;D ).
So, I haven't read Skinsaw Murders, but I'm vaguely familiar with the plot. Any tips or advice on how to play this into Aldern's character and the next time they run into him, even in Burnt Offerings?
Or should I just play it off as "Oh, I was robbed, so I can't reward you as richly as hoped."
Looking for some cool ways to hook that action back into the game, as it's the kind of roleplaying I want to encourage!
(In other news, I also had a shortage of magical items in Sandpoint, so the wand of CLW they wanted to buy was completely absent. Had a great RP bit from another player interacting with Ameiko, where I integrated the Lonjiku confrontation, and Ameiko ended up giving the party a wand of CLW.)

Aldern is supposed to focus on one of the characters based on Lust, Wrath, or Envy.
Sounds like a great excuse to get the Wrath part started awfully early.
I'd have Aldern invite them on the fox hunt, but play the whole thing entirely as his attempt to get the player to admit her guilt. Lots of subtle hints, lots of comments about the unreliablility of one's colleagues, and lots of comments on the evils of thievery. He'll back down from any open confrontation, of course, but he'll drop LOTS of hints.
Then in Module 2 he starts stealing things from her, completing the circle, as he leaves the Wrathful notes taunting her. I'd write some of your own notes as well, indicating just how angry he is with her.
I would totally take her actions and run with them.
As I like to tell my players at the start of any campaign, "Every action you take, no matter how inconsequential it seems, may have major repercussions down the line..."

Thats funny. Aldern's obsession in our game also robbed him!
I played him off as a super nice guy, but with the leery "getting a little too close for comfort" with the target of his obsession.
He rewarded them just as richly, though claimed a goblin must have made off with his goods.
All the other players gave her a hard time about it. She was the only one who kept saying that he's a creep and up to no good.
Her level of satisfaction when it was revealed that Aldern was involved was pretty awesome.

Happened in my latest game, too! I had some fun, ran it as a diceless solo adventure. The net effect was that Aldern couldn't afford to rent the party mounts for the boarhunt... but the player in question got seriously freaked out by the nightmares Foxglove was having, especially when he sat up, eyes wide open, crying out, "Iesha! Iesha, nooo!" And then dropped back into an uneasy sleep. :D

This exact same scenario occurred in my game, though Adlern managed to catch her in the act, and his attitudes toward his saviors immediately changed. Her friends told her to apologize, but her apology was a bit hollow, and now they'll have to deal with an agitated noble until they can turn things around.
I can't wait for next week, when they'll see him again at the Rusty Dragon.
