So, I have a player running a Gnome Barbarian with the Titan Mauler Archetype. During a battle, he wanted to use his Evade Reach Ability on a regular human swordsman with the intent that being adjacent to him is out of his reach. The way I had read the ability looks like it means it reduces the Reach ability, like that of a Dragon having a long neck or a Polearm. He reads it as the opponent's actual reach.
I didn't let it fly for now, but I'd like a ruling on this in-case he was right and we've found an easily abuse-able ability.

This only applies on the Barbarian's turn. It does not affect the barbarian's opponents on their turn.
Evade Reach (Ex): At 5th level, as a swift action, a titan mauler may choose one creature within her line of sight. Until the end of her turn, that target’s reach is treated as if it were 5 feet shorter with respect to reaching the titan mauler, and this reduction increases by 5 feet for every five levels beyond 5th. This ability replaces improved uncanny dodge.
When the Titan Mauler's actions are concluded his turn is done. No more reduction on the enemy reach.
This ability basically has one use: to reduce the reach of enemies while the barbarian moves, attacks, whatever in order to avoid attacks of opportunity. :)

While I wrote the flavor of the archetype as working against larger creatures, this ability can work with anyone. However, pay close attention to the ability's wording: It only lasts until the end of YOUR turn.
In other words, it would let you avoid AoOs from a single human enemy you choose that is adjacent to you that you might provoke during your turn. It doesn't do anything when it's not your turn, like on your opponent's turn.
EDIT: Ninja'd!
