Yuan-Ti

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hi All

Are the Yuan-Ti in the Pathfinder rules anywhere ? Ive been looking in the bestiaries as i thought id seen them but cant seem to find them.

Any ideas ?

Silver Crusade

Nah, they're closed content.

But, they can be converted easily and there are plenty of options for replacements.

Serpentfolk cover a certain "snake-man" angle, with formidable powers, ancient civilizations out of the box, and horrifying eating habits that actually make them excellent replacements for mind flayers as well. They can easily be used as a type of yaun-ti.

Lamia matriarchs can be worked into that mix as a sort of noble caste as well. Human from the waist up, serpent from the waist down. Lots of magical powers.

Nagaji as written were made as a servitor race by the nagas, and are made as a PC-friendly race. They're likewise easy to reflavor into a lower-caste in yuan-ti society.

IIRC, Serpentfolk and Lamia Matriarchs can be found in Bestiary 2(you can double check the PRD to be sure), and the Nagaji are introduced in the two Dragon Empires books and further detailed mechanically and given more options in Advanced Race Guide.

The ARG option for Nagaji is wonderful for expanding an adapted Yuan-ti. It's all about emulating and eventually becoming nagas.

Taking all of those options should make it pretty easy to cover most of the range that the old yuan-ti have.

yuan ti are copyrighted to wotc

they are called serpent folk in golarion

Thanks folks that will do me nicely !

Silver Crusade

Ah, forgot!

Tome of Horrors Complete, adapted for PFSRD, also has the Inphidian race. They come in a number of variants, all of them reptilian humanoids with serpent's heads for hands.

There are also the Ophidians from Psionics Unleashed, who are a psionic serpent-themed humanoid race, also made player-friendly like the Nagaji.

I'm basically combining a lot of these options for my own Yuan-ti empire continent. :)

Also, if you're going for evil Yuan-ti, there are two deities that stand out: Yserdius, the currently decapitated but not entirely dead god of the Serpentfolk detailed in one of the Serpent's Skull volumes, and Lissala, the serpent-bodied goddess of runes of ancient Thassilon, detailed in Pathfinder AP #65.
