Oracle of Life Energy Body and Darkness / Light effects

From Energy Body:

In this form, you gain the elemental subtype and give off a warm, welcoming light that increases the light level within 10 feet by one step, up to normal light.

From Darkness:

Magical light sources only increase the light level in an area if they are of a higher spell level than darkness.

Energy Body (su) is definitely magical, but does its light trump Darkness (or Deeper Darkness)? Or does Darkness win?

More generally, what "spell level" does a class's special ability count as?

"If a character class grants a spell-like ability that is not based on an actual spell, the ability’s effective spell level is equal to the highest-level class spell the character can cast, and is cast at the class level the ability is gained."

I know you're referring to a supernatural ability here, but I think that's a pretty good guideline to use anyway, as nothing is said about the spell level of Supernatural abilities.

Of course, that piece of quoted text isn't free from confusion. If you took Energy Body at level 1, would it function as a level 1, CL 1 spell forever? Would a level 10 Oracle treat it as a level 5, CL 1 spell instead? If they take it at level 7 instead, would it be a Level 3, CL 7 spell? Or would it be Level 1, CL 1 because it could be taken at level 1?

Personally, I think it's level 1, CL 1, but I don't have anything solid to tell you.

...I need answers otherwise we are two rounds from a TPK.

This ability also scales with level (it gets more powerful) why might suggest it's light level whilst only 10ft might in fact overcome deeper darkness as the character levels.

Has this question been officially answered yet? Because it's an issue in my campaign as well.
