Darkleaf Cloth to make Non-Armor Items

I'd like to reduce the weight of my Normal gear. What other items can be made with it? I know the description says items that are made with Leather Fur or Hides can be made with it, but not everying is clear on what materials they are normaly made of.

Can I have a Darkleaf Cloth Tent that weighs half the normal weight?

What about my Bedroll and Backpack?

What would the costs be? It lists 375gp per pound, but is that per pound of the Base Item or the New item (1/2 the base)?

Shadow Lodge

All the costs for all the special materials that are based on weight are from the base weight.

" Items not primarily constructed of leather, fur, or hide are not meaningfully affected by being partially made of darkleaf cloth." I'd say you could make your backpack out of it, but not your bedroll. Even if your bedroll was normally made out of furs... it wouldn't be all that warm, since it's now made out of cloth.

I agree, but I can't find the source in a rulebook. Halp!

As for the original question, I appreciate the flavor but disagree with the approach. IMO, if you can afford darkleaf cloth in that quantity, spend the money on a Handy Haversack or Bag of Holding type I instead. Incredible, cosmos-warping capacity, itty-bitty carrying space.

In PFS you can buy items with most special materials freely, but can't buy most magic items without enough Fame. So in other words, I can buy a Darkleaf Cloth Masterwork Backpack for 1550gp (based on the 4 pound wight of the normal item) after just a few games, but have to wait till I've earned at least 13 fame and pay 2000gp for the Handy Haversack. That means at least 7 games.

True, it might not be worth it for the backpack saving only 2 pounds, but other items such as tents weigh a bit more.

Before you buy a backpack made of special materials I'd buy a masterwork backpack. Even if it's not lighter (never checked) you can now carry more stuff.

I'm pretty sure that a backpack made from special materials is already masterwork, so you get both lighter AND more carrying capacity.

A Masterwork Backpack is a different item (not just higher quality) then a Backpack. It also weighs 4 pounds to a normal backpacks 2 pounds.

It's a case where it is called "Masterwork" even though it isn't realy the same item with better craftsmanship like Masterwork Weapons and Armor.

Ah, I see where I misread. Ignore my previous post then. Heh.
