I am currently working on being an EK. I am fighter one and wizard five and am planning to take the next ten in EK. What I am worried about is that I am the groups only arcane caster but I wanted the flexability of a battle mage type. I am a teifling that has taken wpn focus greatsword, combat casting, arcane strike, arcane armor training and craft arms and armor. The craft feat was part story and also in this style of game being able to make your gear is the most direct path to gearing. Also our gm runs some of everything, we have as good a chance as ending up on another plane as we do facing down undead or dragons or any other horror from the manual.

I am not sure how to feat it out to be effect for the group. We have plenty of hand to hand in the group, a fighter and two rouges and a cleric that can if he has to and a ranger rounds out our little group. So I guess I am just wanting to know how to feat it out from this point. I am thinking I end up going fighter2/Wiz8/EK10.

I'm currently advancing a PFS character to Eldritch Knight. He'll take his first EK level at 8th. Fighter 1, Sorcerer 6, EK 4 will be roughly where he's at when he hits the current advancement wall.
Stats: STR: 15+1[+2] [7] DEX 14 [5] CON 13 [3] INT 10 WIS 10 CHA 14+2=16 [5]
Traits: History of Heresy [Will Save booster], Magical Lineage [Scorching Ray] -1 spell level when applying Metamagic to a Scorching Ray spell.
Feats:
1st: Toughness, +1 HP per level, first 3 levels front-loaded.
1st: Power Attack, -1 to hit, +3 to damage with 2 handed sword.
1st: Weapon Focus: Greatsword
3rd: Arcane Strike
5th: Still Spell
Favored Class: Sorcerer: Arcane Bloodline [Bonded Item: Ring]

When he hits 7th level (Sorcerer level 6), he's picking up Heroism as his third level spell - it'll be the only third level spell he gets to cast for the next 6 sessions, but it's one that he can cast outside of armor and have it last through most of what needs doing.
Currently, he filters most of his first level spell slots through the cracked purple ioun stone orbiting his head.
Notes: Playing through Fighter 1/Sorcerer 3 is the Valley of Suck. No second level spells, BAB +2. On the other hand, once you get past that...you can be both blasty and slashy pretty easily.
