Hi, I'm a GM preparing a home game for a few friends. One of my players would like to play a Magus that utilizes guns and spells. My understanding was that Spell Combat requires a melee weapon, but he believes a Dagger Pistol Satisfies this requirement, allowing him to attack with his pistol and then cast a single spell. What do you think?
He could attack with his dagger pistol as a melee weapon, utilizing only the use the pistol portion as part of spell combat normally.
You should point him towards the myrmidarch archetype for the magus though. They get an ability at level 4 that lets them due spell combat / spellstrike with a ranged weapon. The archetype can be found in Ultimate Combat.
