Help me understand feral combat training

Rules Questions

Maybe this is a stupid question, i'm in the middle of creating a very strange characther and sometime i'm confused so be patient with me.

Feral combat training:

Choose one of your natural weapons. While using the selected natural weapon, you can apply the effects of feats that have Improved Unarmed Strike as a prerequisite, as well as effects that augment an unarmed strike.

Does this mean that i can apply the effect of these feats even if i don't have them or that i now just qualify for them?

Thanks in advice for any help!

I believe that from my understanding that say you have the Deflect Arrows feat. Which requires you to be unarmed that you can use your natural weapon to Deflect Arrows.

Another example would be, Adder Strike, which Applies poison to unarmed strikes. Feral Combat Training allows you to benefit from this feat and applies poison to your natural weapons.

You must have the feats for them to be applied.

Without Feral Combat Training, you can't use stunning fist or elemental fist, or or other similar feats (as well as mnay monk abilities such as Flurry of Blows) with a natural weapon.

Feral Comat Training allows you to use these feats or abilities with your natural weapon that you select. You don't gain new abilites, you become allowed to use ones you allready have or learn after. You'd still need to take Improved Unarmed Strike, or Monk levels to qualify for them as well.

Ok thanks!
