Dragonhide plate

Rules Questions

I would assume that this armor requires heavy armor proficiency am I correct? Also what is the dexterity bonus to AC on this armor +2? It says its treated as a masters work.

"This suit of full plate is made of dragonhide, rather than metal, so druids can wear it. It is otherwise identical to masterwork full plate."

Although it says druids can wear it I would have to guess that they need heavy armor proficiency feat being that it says, "...identical to full plate."

So...
Dragonhide = +9 AC., +2 dex.(dex. modifier to AC bonus max), 50 lb., slower base speed 20?, hardness 10, heavy armor.

Masterwork doesn't increase the Max Dex, it just reduces the armor check penalty. Yes you should still need Heavy Armor proficiency. It's only useful for druids who can't wear metal armor.

It's also cool and thematic. :)

And the fact that it's immune to its element can sometime be useful. Not often, but sometimes.

A Jabberwocky one destroyed ALL of my gear, ALL of it (while killing me). I quickly learned the bonuses of making stuff out of dragon hide. Grant it, I am still using my celestial breastplate armor, but at least I don't have to worry about fire destroying my clothing and other gear.

To be fair, that also sorta sounds like the DM said, "No, the party does not get to become more powerful because someone died." >.>

At that point I has already been reincarnated several times, I was coming back, no doubt about it.

You can add the Comfort enchantment to up the max dex.

No that just reduces the armor check penalty.

Heh, was your DM mad at you? Tired of the character? xD

I'm sorry. That sucks. Interesting level of spitefulness, however. Did you actually ROLL a 1 on that reflex save, or was he really just hammering you for fun?

Mixed it up.

Yep. Druid still needs Heavy Armor Proficiency to use it. But burning a feat and sacrificing dex bonus to AC is worth it. Especially when you enchant it with things like Wild.

Grand Lodge

Well, if you give it the Wild enchantment, it really does not matter if you are proficient or not.

Once in Wildshape, non-proficiency is meaningless.

Truth. But when you're not wildshaped, the non-proficiency does matter.

Grand Lodge

Serren's Swift Girding spell will do it.

We were coming up on the final boss of the entire campaign. We were all level 18! The Jabberwocky used its heat eyes with vital strike killing me, plus the fire remains for following rounds as my body had caught on fire due to a failed save. While I survived the initial blast, it was below 0 hit points. The following burning dealt damaged to all my now unattended items. I was not the only one who lost items, I lost almost all of them.
