If a caster is hit with feeblemind, but has bonuses in effect, would the bonuses still be there? For instance, if a wizard hit with feeblemind is wearing a +6 headband of intellect, it sort of stands to reason that he would end up with a 7? The feeblemind doesn't dispel the headband, but if it really reduces him to 1 even with the headband, if he takes off (or is sundered of) the headband he goes unconscious immediately?
Spinoff question would be if he does end up with a 7 after that, does that make it possible for him to communicate?
EDIT: 0 int and cha make you unconscious, not dead. Duh.

The feeblemind spell sets your scores; they don't change with or without equipment. So no, removing it doesn't make him unconscious, but neither does wearing it allow him to overcome feeblemind.
I beg to differ.
With a duration of instantaneous, the spell must have one, fixed effect. It sets the Intelligence and Charisma scores to 1, and that's it. Taking off a +2 Charisma cloak would then drop that score to zero (since it can't be -1) and - since the spell has come and gone - zero it remains.| Aunt Tony |
Difficult to imagine how a +6 headband actually helps the character. A 7 is still quite solidly below "able to cast spells" level. Maybe not "the intelligence of a lizard" level, but definitely a severe mental deficiency.
I would rule that the character's Ability Score is set to 1 but that other enhancements still apply normally -- gear, pretty much. Better not lose that headband somehow, because an Int 1 character is a whole lot more difficult to deal with than an Int 7 even if both are useless without their ability to cast spells.
