NPC Codex Iconics

So this may just be a case of failing to read properly but I figure I would ask

Quote:
PATHFINDER SOCIETY ICONICS The Pathfinder Society Organized Play program has a few special restrictions on certain feats, class abilities, and equipment in order to make sure the worldwide campaign goes smoothly. If you’re using one of these iconic characters as a PC in a Pathfinder Society game and the PC has one of the restricted options, you can’t use that option in the game. See the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play (a free download from paizo.com/pathfindersociety) for more information on these restrictions. The restrictions should have a very minor impact on the iconic PCs, and the characters are otherwise ready to use in Pathfinder Society

Am I correct that they are simply saying that you can use them as a template for a new charecter or are the NPC codex 1,7 and 12 iconics legal for PFS play?

I checked the additional resource page but NPC codex just came out today so imagine it has't been updated

There is a thread about the NPOC Codex iconics, and, in it, Mike Brock has said that the 12th level are NOT legal for play, the 7th level should be legal with only minor modifications (getting rid of Scribe Scroll on Exren, for example); and that the first level need a bit of work, and that the 4th level iconics are being worked on.

None of the material in the NPC Codex is legal for PFS use until it appears on the Additional Resources page. When it shows up on the additional resources page it will describe what can be used, as well as any adjustments that need to be made for PFS.

I wish that they'd sanction the 12th levels for play as GM characters when you have a table of three at 12th or above. Any idea why they aren't?

Because playing at 12th level is supposed to be a special moment for a PFS character.

Yeah, I caught that, in the NPC Codex itself, it says the characters are built using a 20-point buy, even though PFS is 15-point. I wondered if maybe this was because they lacked Traits, which are not in the Core Rulebook. It's strange to have it say that they are legal for play in the published book without much work, without the logistical setup to put those words directly into practice. Any idea why the discrepancy?

Love the format, and the extra details like Sajan's Temple Sword. Altogether a great book. :)

PFS is a 20 point buy, so that's actually accurate. The reason they don't have traits is because (IIRC) the NPC Codex only uses the Core Rulebook, which didn't have traits. They were intodruced in the APG, and were released as some other free pdf.

Next time I feel like sticking my foot in my mouth, I will check the facts - my mind likes to play tricks on me. I was thinking the difference between High Fantasy and Epic as being 5 less points in the buying. Don't worry - I'm probably just drunk or something.... :P Luckily, no one's lives are on the line for it.
