Bruno grappling stupid tiger. Stupid tiger bite Bruno. Stupid tiger now can grapple Bruno because of Grab.
Grab (Ex)
If a creature with this special attack hits with the indicated attack (usually a claw or bite attack), it deals normal damage and attempts to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
Bruno is Tetori.
Counter-Grapple (Ex)
At 4th level, a tetori wrestler may make an attack of opportunity against a creature attempting to grapple him. This ability does not allow the tetori to make an attack of opportunity against a creature with the Greater Grapple feat.
Bruno interpreted that Tetori ability overruled Grab and made AOO with meaty man hands (and Bruno critically hit). Bruno later pin and tie up nice kitty kat.
After game, Bruno grapple with own thoughts and was unsure if interpretation was correct. Bruno come to forum for help grappling thoughts.

In my opinion, the tiger cheated.
The grappling rules tells us, that the grappled person can attempt to escape with a CMB or Escape Artist check. What matters here is that the action to do so is not a grapple attempt.
Thus I'd argue that the Grab ability cannot be used to escape or gain control of a grapple.
Nothing suggest that two characters can succesfully grapple eachother at the same time, given that it is a mutual condition, where one is in control.
Ruleswise it is an undiscribed corner-case. However it is such a small one (a creature with grab attacking whiled grappled), the I'd actually prefer that Paizo don't spend the resources to write it into the book.

If a critter has no grapple-related feats or abilities and attempts to initiate a grapple, the target of the grapple gets an AoO. (Core Rules page 200). This is the AoO that the tiger is (usually) avoiding by having the Grab ability.
Bruno's extraordinary ability grants him an AoO when a grapple is made against him (even if he wouldn't ordinarily get one) EXCEPT when the grappler has Greater Grapple.
Grab <> Greater Grapple. Bruno gets to use his ability.
If Bruno's ability was intended to only work against Improved Grapple, it might have said so, but because it didn't, we can only assume that it is intended to work against all grapples except for the one exception explicitly called out.
Of course, this is just my opinion.
