Last session, I added the mythic Invincible and Savage templates to some of the monsters my non-mythic 17th level party was going up against and found two interesting corner cases when it came to DR/epic.
1. A Savage elder lighting elemental gets DR 10/epic, but it also has DR 10/-, which is already better than DR/epic since *nothing* penetrates. I wonder; should there be any adjustment to the DR/epic you get if you already have DR/-. Not a lot of creatures have it anyway - elementals, mummies, high-level barbarians, creatures wearing adamantine armor. It just feels like a bit of a waste.
2. Invincible wraiths and Savage animate dreams turned out to be quite nasty even for a high-level party, since they took half damage from everything except force/ghost touch for being incorporeal and then had the DR/epic (and resistance to all energy types) added onto the back end, after halving.
I don't know if these are actually problems, but it was an observation about the interaction between templates granting DR/epic and creatures that already had certain kinds of defenses.
Thoughts?
