I'm currently planning a mounted character, eventually going into Mammoth Rider, and I'm looking for help. I've never played a mounted character, so I have no experience. What kind of feats are useful or necessary for mounted fighting? I had originally planned on taking Ride-by Attack and Spirited Charge, but I'm questioning the utility of investing so heavily in charging on my mount, especially in Society play. Are there any other feats for using a mount that I should be aware of?
For reference, I'm planning on going Cavalier 1/Nature Oracle 8/Mammoth Rider X, and using a lot of my actions to buff my mount.
Something you may want to consider if you do not have a race decided upon is using an Aasimar. They qualify for a feat called celestial servant which gives their mount the celestial template. The template gets better with age and adds a few nice things to your mount.

The aasimar favored class bonus for oracle is also great: add 1/2 to effective oracle level for 1 mystery. So by your plan you would have a 13th level AC at level 9.

Wow, those are both... really good! I had been planning to use my Nagaji boon for this, but it looks like an Angel-blooded Aasimar would be strictly better. That's kind of sad, since I thought I was finally done wracking my brains to think of a character to use that race boon on. Oh well.
