I know a Eidolon cannot use armor but does that include shields and magic items that add to defense like bracers and rings. And if you give your Eidolon an item does it stay with the Eidolon when it is dismissed and the Eidolon return with the item or will the eidolon lose the item in a Poker game while its in their home dimension?
And do most people give their Eidolon personalities and try to roll play them to any extent .

1. The eidolon can use anything that does not occupy the armor slot. So yes, bracers, rings and shields are all legal.
2. Undefined in RAW what happens to the gear. No, it does not disappear. It either stays with the eidolon or falls to the ground depending on the DM's interpretation.
3. So roleplay, some do not. This is a personal decision.
That would end up making the synthesists a bit more interesting. Particularly ones with more than one head.
But they do have full INT, WIS, and CHA scores, so I would guess that they are about average mentally. Well, INT is below average, but still smarter than some fighters. It has the ability to speak though. I think it could be interesting to have two players for this.
