How do the Double Pistol and Vital Strike interact?
With the D.Pistol you can shoot two shots with one attack action and a -4 penalty. Vital Strike doubles your weapons damage if you use the attack action.
1) It is not possible to combine the double shot and vital strike.
2) You apply vital strike to both shots.
3) you apply vital strike to the first shot (who hits?).
4) ..
Thanks!

Vital Strike
Benefit: When you use the attack action, you can make one attack at your highest base attack bonus that deals additional damage. Roll the weapon's damage dice for the attack twice and add the results together before adding bonuses from Strength, weapon abilities (such as flaming), precision based damage, and other damage bonuses. These extra weapon damage dice are not multiplied on a critical hit, but are added to the total.
Using the double pistol to fire two shots requires a single Attack Action but it still consists of two attacks. Vital Strike can still only be used on a single attack so you can't use the double-fire feature of a double pistol in conjunction with Vital Strike. Now if the double shot feature were worded differently, say it only required 1 attack roll to deal 2d8 in place of 1d8, then vital strike would work fine and the normal multiplier rule would come into play letting you deal 3d8 damage.
