Why was Palaveen written up as a Cleric of Asmodeus? (Bastards of Erebus, p. 45)

What he and the Bastard of Erebus are doing is not exactly promoting Order.

Would not a more "thiefly" deity - such as Norgorber - fit better?

Hm. Asmodeus features pretty heavily into the adventure, or at least factions with ties to him do. Granted, I'm changing that anyway as the homebrew setting I'm putting my game in doesn't use the same pantheon.

I'd say change him if you want, but Asmodeus fits better, having the main church in Westcrown.

Also, he claims to be descended from Mammon, so worshipping Mammon's lord makes a certain degree of sense.

Note that he's not a high-level cleric. It could be he just joined the Church of Asmodeus for the political connections and clout. I mean, there's likely a reason the Hellknights and the dottari ignore the activities of the Bastards. It could be the church "encourages" local law enforcement to look the other way because the gang's led by one of theirs...
