“(Blank) Lore” Errata Request

Something I recently realized that bothers me is that certain older ancestries are worse in an easily fixable way. Currently, Elf Lore gives Additional Lore for Elves, while Vanara lore only trains you in Vanara Lore. This also hurts fetchlings, kitsune, nagaji, androids, and more. It would be really easy to put out errata that says “If your ancestry lore feat would train you in a lore, you instead get additional lore for that skill.”

It is a lot harder to do. The logistics of trying to rewrite all of the existing books out in the wild is not trivial.

If you're in a home game, it's an easy house rule.

If you're in Society, you're screwed until errata. Keep it in mind during character creation.

Ditto with how they bumped up when ancestries get full flight on newer ones vs older ones. If those ever get updated they're likely to get that as well, but until then...

Honestly, even in a PFS game, I can see a GM giving you the Additional Lore bonus (after all, the GM can give a circumstance bonus up to +4 according to the rules).

Personally, if someone needs and has Vanara Lore, I'd certainly give them a success without rolling.

That's assuming that rewriting all of the books was the only viable option. You could just as easily institute it as a house rule, like some folks have already pointed out, and then write in an exception into the PFS rules, which is something we've seen done before and is much easier to accomplish.

Given how much stock people put in PFS rules, using them as errata when no official errata exists, I think it would work as a perfectly serviceable stopgap while older material gets updated.

Yeah, the PFS ruling seems the easier route. I’m unsure if there’s a thread or something to suggest stuff for PFS specifically, but if there is feel free to mention this thread there.

There's a PFS subforum here, I'd suggest creating a thread there so the PFS team is more likely to see it.
