Animal Companion and Power Attacks

Rules Questions

So, the Feat reads:

You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +2 bonus on all melee damage rolls.
This bonus to damage is halved (–50%) if you are making an attack with an off-hand weapon or secondary natural weapon.

Assume a lepoard with a BAB of 3. Does this mean his bite gets +2 damage but his claws only +1 damage each? They are considered secondary, aren't they?

Thanks.

No, all claws and bites are considered primary attacks.

Primary and Secondary Natural attacks are defined by the type of attack

Refer to the table here:

This was one of the changes from 3.5 to pathfinder. It simplifies things a lot, but gives animal companions a LOT of kick.

Excellent. This makes my Feat choice that much easier.

raise his int to 3 and take the necessary feats/skill ranks to get feral combat training and the dragon style feats, makes power attack awesome once you get dragon ferocity.(if your animal is a lion who chooses claws for feral combat training all claws will get power attacks 50% increase in damage because all your claws will be doing 1.5 str damage)

Well, I'm a Cleric with Animal Domain so I don't get my Companion until 4th Level (I will be taking Boon Companion Feat).

I was leaning towards Leopard simply because we are on the Medium XP climb and will be forever on the early Levels. The leopard will be useful for a looooooong time.

Plus, Trip attack.
