not a big fan of how it is explained that the reason the Alchemist cannot share his potions are because he infuses a part of his essence or whatever into them...

but of course i understand the reason for this in the metagame - potential for abuse.

i was thinking that in order to allow the potions to be shared with allies, there could be an alternate system in that included an Expiration Date (hours? minutes?) and a Backlash Possibility (Fortitude save?).

the first would seem the easiest of the two to try. something that balanced the 'per day' allowing some flexibility.

the second could get fun...

the infusion discovery, it can be taken as early as 2nd level. now you may even take those personal spells and share them too.


3: Raging. While under the influence, the user attacks the nearest target till it wears off.
4: Delay. Take it one round, it takes effect the next.


An Alchemist cannot share potions that he/she makes?

Or are you referring to Extracts and Mutagens?


Roll a d%, in addition to having effect, it also has the effects of one of the drugs.

I got the impression the OP feels the self only restriction is meta game, not logical. I agree. Having it react randomly with someone else's metabolism is more believable for me. Cure light wounds, as a spell or potion, can be used by anyone. Restricting it to the caster/alchemist does not fit.

The one spell that must be restricted to arcane casters, shield, I can see failing if the user is wearing armor.

Ok.
I am thinking of allowing Alchemists to automatically share their Infusions (without taking the discovery), counting against their normal extract limit.

The catch being they create a minor addiction for level 1-2 extracts, a moderate addiction for level 3-4 extracts, and a major addiction for level 5-6 extracts. Choosing the Infusion discovery removes the addictive qualities.

Thoughts?
