Geisha Archeologist

Rules Questions

When I looked at combinable bard archetypes I noticed that, at first glance, the geisha and the archeologist seem to be compatible.
But as the archeologist looses bardic performance it seems that the geisha would not be able to use her tea ceremony, because she has no 4 rounds of bardic performance to spend.

So you would end up with a geisha without tea ceremony, right?

How can one "combine" Archetypes?

Archetypes are, more or less, templates that are applied to a base class, changing some of that class's abilities.

Officially, you can slap several Archetypes on one class, as long as every base class ability is not affected more than once.

For example, an Urban Skirmisher (both being Ranger archetypes) is perfectly legal, rules-wise.

Yes, but some archetypes may be combined RAW but do not function properly if you do so.
And it seems to me the archoelogical geisha is such a combination.

And because Midnight Angel brought a ranger example, there is a non functional but legal combination, too: The infiltrator freebooter
The Infiltrator needs a favored anemy to use his adaptation ability and the freebooter gets no favored enemy.

No. The archeologist geisha uses what the archeologist gains instead. You can apply lingering performance and other bardic performance feats to that as well. Only you get less of it than an actuall bard.

So yes, there are things you can combine that don´t really work together and unfortunately others that would work great together, but you can´t combine them.

Thanks Hayato Ken.
Never noticed the part about counting a bardic performance for feats etc.

This is exactly what I am questioning. Where does it actually say that in the rules?

A character can take more than one archetype and garner additional alternate class features, but none of the alternate class features can replace or alter the same class feature from the core class as another alternate class feature. For example, a paladin could not be both a hospitaler and an undead scourge since they both modify the smite evil class feature and both replace the aura of justice class feature. A paladin could, however, be both an undead scourge and a warrior of the holy light, since none of their new class features replace the same core class feature.

Thank You. I had missed that.
