Fighting with 2 longswords?

Advice

Dark Archive

hello,

What feats would you need to take to be able to fight with two longswords with the same penalty as fighting with a light weapon in the off hand?

Or is EWP: Sawtooth Saber the only option?

Thanks!

I think there used to be a feat in 3.5 that let you treat a one-handed weapon as a light weapon for the purpose of TWF, but I forget what it was called or where to find it.

I don't know of any such feat in PF. EWP: Sawtooth Saber might be your best bet.

There's also an ability you get at 11th level as a Two-Weapon Warrior (Fighter Archetype) that does what you want.

Titan mauler archetype as well.

There isn't a feat to reduce two-weapon fighting penalties for two one-handed weapons to -2.

EWP: Sawtooth Saber is close, but you'd probably want to have two for weapon-related feats (if you get them)

Be a fighter and get Weapon Focus and Greater Weapon Focus gets you a +2, which would offset the penalty (then again, when your a fighter, weapon groups make it easier anyways)

If I were your GM, I'd suggest a new feat... Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Longsword. And basically allow you to use a longsword in your off-hand as if it were a light weapon for the purposes of two-weapon fighting.

Basically, I'd make a feat that is equavelent to EWP: sawtooth, but that works with the weapon you want.

I've been considering doing a series of feats like this for the spear. If you take weapon focus and Exotic weapon training with the spear, you can wield a spear as it is normally, or switch to wielding it like a double weapon, with one end striking like a club and one end dealing slashing/piercing for 1d8 damage.

Just ask your DM if (s)he'd let you do so at the cost of a feat. Bring up and show the Two-bladed Sword if (s)he gives you grief about it.

Two-Weapon Master

Improved Balance (Ex): At 11th level, the attack penalties for fighting with two weapons are reduced by –1 for a two-weapon warrior. Alternatively, he may use a one-handed weapon in his off-hand, treating it as if it were a light weapon with the normal light weapon penalties. This ability replaces armor training 3.

Normally, with 1-h/light, you attack at -2/-2. With this ability from Two-Weapon Warrior, you attack with 1-h/light at -1/-1. Or, whereas normally with 1-h/1-h, you attack at -4/-4, you can fight with 1-h/1-h at -2/-2.

Perfect Balance (Ex): At 15th level, the penalties for fighting with two weapons are reduced by an additional –1 for a two-weapon warrior. This benefit stacks with improved balance. If he is using a one-handed weapon in his off hand, treating it as a light weapon, he uses the normal light weapon penalties. This ability replaces armor training 4.

Normally, 1-h/light is -2/-2. With both Improved Balance and Perfect Balance, you attack with 1-h/light at +0/+0. You still use 1-h/1-h at -2/-2.

Wait, so there would be no difference between lvl 11 and 15 with the longswords?

What is wrong with Sawtooth Sabres?

In 3.5 there's a feat called Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting which allowed you to fight with a one-handed weapon in your off-hand but take TWF penalties as if your off-hand weapon was light.

It meshed well with the feat Dual Strike, which as a standard action allowed you to attack with your main and off hand weapons with a single attack roll, but at a -10 penalty if your off-hand weapon was one-handed but only a -4 penalty if your off-hand weapon was light.

I had great fun with FlashHeart wielding twin glassteel rapiers with TWF/Oversized TWF/Dual Strike/Power Attack and the spell True Strike!
