An acquaintance of mine approached me about a twink game featuring the Ravenloft setting.
We're all starting off lvl 9, no limits on races/classes etc.
1st question is what are common attacks/strategies/damage etc for Ravenloft. I'm assuming undead is a feature, so alot of negative energy/level stuff etc, but was wanting to query the common knowledge pool here.
second. The create a race stuff in the Advanced Race guide, how does that work exactly? Someone is using the older half-dragon template that increases effective character level by 2.

I cannot answer the second part of your question. Concerning the first part, the common strategy for Ravenloft is "play smart" Undead, DPR ... all of those things are completely irrelevant if the DM has any clue what he's doing. Honestly it sounds like he's giving you enough rope to hang yourselves with.
I'd make sure you have a good will save. Typically Ravenloft calls for a lot of those, not to shrug off spell effects, but to resist going bananas bonkers/catatonic/looking for a ledge to throw yourself off of.Otherwise, I wouldn't try to play an a-hole. A DM in Ravenloft will make what's known as "Powers checks" whenever you do something a little rough.
Finally don't get cursed. Not as in being affected by the "bestow curse" spell. I mean, if some old lady NPC curses you, you are going to have some very interesting times ahead of you.

You can have a perfectly horrific Ravenloft campaign without a single undead, so it really depends what your GM is planning. You can probably command some of the lesser undead but there is no way in Abyss you'll be able to Command Strahd or Azalin :)
Besides, on intelligent undead it works like charm, not domination. As a magus your charisma is probably not great so winning a charisma check is unlikely.
Edit: It seems you also took Raise Thread via Spell Blending :D

If you cast control undead repeatedly you run the risk of turning into a corrupted monstrous horror because you spammed "evil" spells. Yes, necromancy is evil. Yes, it's explicitly a setting specific gimmick.
Here, download and read this. It's a PF conversion for the Ravenloft setting. The GM may or may not be using these specific mechanics, but all the fluffy stuff will probably be very close to what they are using.

Thanks for the link, Snowblind, it's an interest read :)
With the PC being Natural Good, I suppose Command Undead won't be an option then?
Anyway, I'm currently working on Human Bladebound Kensai/Unarmed Fighter. His random dice rolling stat is 16,15,14,13,13,13 as we will start the campaign at level 6.
Since He's still qualified for either 1 2nd-level wizard spell or 2 1st-level spells. Which spell would you suggest that I should take to even the odd in Ravenloft?
Other than that, I also tempt to take Unarmed Fighter to gain Crane Style, Crane riposte (5th Level Feat + Unarmed Fighter's Bonus Feat) and chain it with Crane Wing afterward (7th Level Feat).
If you guys have any idea for the strength based magus, I'd like to hear it <3
