Titan Mauler Question

Rules Questions

Big game hunter:

A titan mauler gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC in melee with creatures larger than themselves.

This ability replaces fast movement.

The AC part is clear only to apply to melee, but how about the attack bonus?

For me as a non native speaker the above could mean:

1: You get a +1 bonus to attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC against melee attacks
2: You get a +1 bonus to attack and a +1 dodge bonus to AC, both of which only apply to melee.

Which is correct?

Scarab Sages

Both of those bonuses are intended to only kick in against creatures larger than the Titan Mauler.

That implies that the melee restriction applies on both, too. Right?
