you would need 4 (or more) levels of a class that got +1 BAB every level, like ranger or fighter, then levels in a class that is capable of casting 1st level arcane spells, which unfortunately none of those get +1 BAB at 1st level, so this means you will need to be minimum of level 7 before you can go into arcane archer (as the 8th level of your character). typical build would include 4 of ranger for 4 of the BAB requirement(or fighter for the extra feats and ability to specialize) and 3 levels of wizard for the extra 2 BAB needed plus the ability to cast 1st level spells9and get 2nd level spells as a bonus). along the way you would need to spend your feat slots on the 3 feats required for the prestige class.

Arcane Archer requires BAB +6. This requirement has to be met before you take 1st level of AA. Which means that before taking 1st level of AA you would need:
a) 4 levels of a Ranger (BAB +4) and 4 levels of a Sorcerer/Wizard/Witch (BAB +2), becoming Arcane Archer at 9th character level.
b) 5 levels of a Ranger (BAB +5) and 2 levels of a Sorcerer/Wizard/Witch (BAB +1), becoming Arcane Archer at 8th character level.
c) 6 levels of a Ranger (BAB +6) and 1 level of a Sorcerer/Wizard/Witch (BAB +0) becoming Arcane Archer at 8th character level.
Other combinations are possible as well, but would require higher character level.

Using the term "roll" prestige class is confusing.
All you need to do is meet the requirements: +6 BAB and 1 caster level. This is a higher requirement than for nearly any other prestige class. You need to be minimum 7th-level before you can take it (you usually need to be 5th-level to take a prestige class).
You could go with a ranger 6/sorcerer 1, or a ranger 4/wizard 3. You could probably take 9 or so bard levels, if you don't mind waiting longer to meet the requirements.
