What odd spells has your Sorcerer learned?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I was creating some characters for a one shot and noticed this line about Sorcerers learning new spells...

Soooo... What non-sorcerer/wizard spells has your Sorcerer learned??

And what do people do with this in their games??
...Does this mean Sorcerers can be healers??

I think it's referring to the rules for designing custom spells. Though a DM could potentially allow a sorcerer to take a cure spell as a houserule too.

I've successfully weaponized mage's mansion with my sorcerer.

I've also used statue and secure shelter to great effect in games.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I think it's fine for sorcerers to pick up non-sorcerer/wizard spells that are appropriately themed according to their bloodline, such as druid spells for fry and verdant bloodlines, good cleric spells for celestial and evil cleric spells for abyssal and infernal.

Wow, I've never really thought to allow but I like the idea. It would be tough, and involve something like, for example, a vision quest for a fey sorcerer learning a druid spell, but I think I'm going to allow this from now. Not sure if it will ever come up, but if it does, yeah.

EDIT: Other good examples would be witch spells for accursed, bard spells for maestro, and divine spells for all of the extraplanar outsiders.

I believe that is part of the 'Fast Food' bloodline, where all members are descendants of the arch-chef 'Ron McDonald'

(I'm really sorry i just had to make that joke lol)

I have a sorcerer that had Possess Object as an oddball spell. Comes in handy if you have a way to carry around an iron statue :) or you can try to possess an enemies sword and run away as it, or maybe possess their armor and try to force them to move somewhere. it's a neat spell.

Silver Crusade

Im a fan of Pugwumpi's Grace

My sorcerer can summon elementals that are exactly like the ones in the book, but they're actually a swarm (no swarm advantage, just flavour) of little teeny tiny elementals, which are adorable.

Sczarni

Now I want to make a sorcerer that never learns anything but custom-researched spells.

My Fey bloodline sorcerer has a flaw that bars him from learning Necromancy spells. Since Poison is the level 4 Fey bloodline spell my GM let me swap it out for Freedom of Movement, which is nice indeed. He also let me switch out Treestride, since it's such a terrible spell, with Commune with Nature, which my character has uses several times.
