Somewhere, a martian kid is crying because they don't have a nickle for icecream.

Wouldnt it just rock if rover found a crashed spaceship?? It would be like winning several lotteries all at once.

Its more like someone dropped a quarter...

So...if it turns out to be a bit of the rover that has dropped off...

What might be the consequences? Who might get the blame for faulty construction?

Or. What caused the piece to come off? Meteorite strike? Other possibilities?

A tiny spaceship? For Bacteria to travel across the Universe in?

Or is it a button?

"To end simulation...Press One."

"It has a button on it. I want to press it, but I don't know what it does."

Not necessarily the rover itself, but part of the sky crane, or the aeroshell assembly.

Yeah. Not all of the rover was designed to survive entry.

Yeah. Not all of the rover was designed to survive entry.

There are lots of bits and pieces that came off of the shell during entry...BY DESIGN. In fact the aeroshell was even shooting slugs out as part of it's orientation. also lots of explosive bolts are part of what makes things like heat shield separation possible.
