The reason you might have heard some conversation about it recently is because the newest AP, Shattered Star, fits somewhat thematically with PFS. Players are assumed to be members of the Pathfinder Society, etc... Some players felt it would be a nice candidate for experimentation about making an AP PFS legal, but nothing came of it.
