You would only need to cast in on one case, but yes it would work pretty well if you needed to be firing a crossbow continuously for 1 min/level.
Honestly it is a cool spell if made permanent, but not one I would take as a daily use unless there is not much ammunition in the campaign for some reason.

will the Bard spell Abundant Ammunition work with repeating crossbow cases?
Some people assume you load the entire case, which contains bolts, into the crossbow itself, in which case the spell would grant you free reloading in addition to the free ammunition. (Similar to the level 2 spell Reloading Hands which lasts rounds/level)
However, the repeating crossbow says it holds 5 crossbow bolts, not a case of 5 bolts, so it's easy to interpret that full-round action is loading the bolts from the case into the crossbow itself, in which case the spell would only grant you free ammunition.
There's a discussion thread on it here with elaboration/argument from both viewpoints.

There is no reason you could not cast abundant ammunition on the crossbow, even if you do assume that there is not a case. Its semantics. People are really only saying that the crossbow itself contains the case, pouch, or whatever, that holds the bolts.
