Any good horror scenarios?

Can anyone reccomend some good horror scenarios?
I found this old thread about the same subject, but that doesn't cover newer scenarios.

I'm running a local con soon and thought it would be fun doing something special in the midnight slot saturday night.

Thanks in advance :)

Grand Lodge 4/5

In Wrath's Shadow and Golemworks Incident from season 4 fit the bill.

I'm biased, but the Haunting of Hinojai is a good old fashioned haunted house.

EDIT:shakes fist at iPad spellchecker!

FTFY.

And 100% agree. Can be challenging, too.

I second sveden's suggestion of the Golemworks Incident.

What type of horror are you looking for?

I second "In Wrath's Shadow" I had to skim descriptions since I had a 10 year old at the table I ran it for. It is also cool in that most of the feeling creepy/horror is the window dressing, kinda like a haunted house.

The other thread pretty much covered it. There are modules that have a horror theme as well (but I can't confirm since I haven't run them). I'll also confirm the following scenarios have a horror theme:
- The Haunting of Hinojai
- Golemworks Incident
- In Wrath's Shadow
- The Flesh Collector: Could have a horror theme to it if the GM wanted.

Those are the obvious (new) ones that I know of. And then there are the older scenarios in the other thread, which are great too.

I think horror will depend a lot on the GM. For instance, I have moments of horror in the Frostfur Captives. It's all in the fluff / delivery.

Year 3 scenario :
Temple of empyreal enlightenment
could be run as horror.

I was thinking that too.

Very much so...

They are not scenarios but there are a few modules that fit the bill nicely. The ones off the top of my head are:

Godsmouth Heresy (Tier 1)
Feast of Ravenmoor (Tier 2-4)
Carrion Hill (Tier 4-6)
From Shore to Sea (Tier 5-7)

Spoiler:
The first one has a ton of Thassilonian things. The last three are very much Lovecraftian.

I'm halfway thru Ravenmoore with my homegame. Good stuff! Although finishing the module at 10am the following day might not go over so well for the OP.

Agreed, but they fit the theme.

horror pfs scenario:
3-21: The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment can be run as a horror scenario . It can be reallly really cthulesque and creepy if done right. It's truly terrifying when run correctly.

Sovereign Court 3/5

All the scenarios mentioned here can be played as 'horror' scenarios if you play it up enough. Make sure to get into it and maybe do a spooky voice and add some effects to the environment to keep players on edge.

You know what? you may be on to something here.

I think we can say almost all the scenarios in PFS can be played as 'horror' scenarios. Even FrostFur Captives....

I couldn't summon the enthusiasm to do a cinematic, handwaved-combat horror version of Devil We Know 2.

But I can see how it could be done.

Bob Jonquet gave me some good advice this past spring. He noted that Blood at Dralkard Manor has some terrific atmospheric bits to its descriptions. It's not a legal scenario any more, but it still serves as a good resource.

C'mon folks. No one has said Voice in the Void?

I do second From Shore to Sea as a module option.

No one has said Among the Living either? Where can you go wrong with zombies, decadence and opera.

Boys, they were both mentioned in the other thread that the OP linked. +more.

Shadow Lodge 5/5

you only die twice .... IMHO has the potential of being really creepy
In Wrath's shadow ... I swear I was expecting Pinhead to come around the corner and say "TIME !!! TO PLAY"

ANYTHING Blakros has the vibe as well ... as all the ones Ive been in deal with The Tapestry

Silver Crusade 2/5

The Midnight Mauler, when run right, will definitely fit the bill. I agree with the sentiment that any scenario can be run in a horror mindset and be pretty effective. The Pallid Plague is also a good candidate, as is Tide of Morning if I remember correctly.

Thank you for all the suggestions :D I went with Golemworks Incident and Voice in the Void.

I really like the idea that all scenarios have the potential for horror. I probably overplayes Frostfur Captives to the point where it wasn't horror but just bizarre.

Talking of playing everything as horror. Even Mrs Doubtfire has the potential.

Silver Crusade 5/5

I haven't run it quite yet, but Below the Silver Tarn from Season 2 looks very promising.
