3.0 / 3.5 Vow of Poverty

Conversions

I apologize if this has been asked before. Are there any Pathfinder conversions to the above mentioned feat?

Monk vows but they are not as powerful as they were in 3.0/3.5.

Thanks, Tifton. I guess I was not too clear in my question. I know what these updates. I am just wondering if it is okay to take the 3.0/3.5 VOP as is and have it fit in Pathfinder?

That depends on your DM/playing group. VoP isn't just VoP, it's also all those bonus feats that it grants. It could be decent in 3.5 with the right class, but could also be horribly weak or powerful (wildshape was a fantastic pairing). And needing to have items, but never being able to use them can really be problematic at times (work this out with your GM first!)

VoP is always a downgrade unless it's a game w/ almost no wealth.

How much of a downgrade depends on your class. For Druid, Sorcerer, or Bard, it's not that bad. For a fighter, wizard (no spellbook!), monk, paladin... it's a nerf of giagantic enormous tremendous proportions!

The feats sound great, you get so many. But if you're not one of the ~6 classes that actually got a few class feature-based feats devoted to it, you'll be out of decent choicees by like level 6. If you are one of those classes..you might make it to level 10 before you're like, "I guess +1 to a single d20 roll once per day is technically better than absolutely nothing..." (yes, there's actually exalted feats that do that)

or the exalted feat that gave an extra skillpoint for each hd. Rack up half a dozen of those and your impoverished saint is a skillmonkey indeed!

Yes, that and touch of golden ice are excellent.

After that, it gets to be slim pickings. I did estimate being out of decent choices by level 6 or so. Nymph's Kiss is awesome, no doubt. +1 skill point/level, +2 cha-based checks, and +1 on saves vs. spells and stuff (and the whole "having relations w/ a fey creature" is a nice fluff perk, too! ;) ). Just amazing.

or holy strike, wherein your unarmed attack is holy and adds 2d6 damage (iirc). Rack up those, like say 5+... and those demons start falling in one-round flurries ;)

More like 1d4.... and VoP makes your attacks good-aligned at level 10 anyway.

I endured DMing with a player playing a VoP Warmage from levels 4-20 in War of the Burning Sky. It got to the point where I allowed him to take the metamagics from the book for his character as he had run out of bonus feat choices. He managed to end the campaign with the most total HP and a Cha in the 30's.

The player wants to play a cleric of Mishakel.

I have asked something of the same question in another thread Here is that thread.
I think it would be a matter of the GMs choice, but if you go by the rules...officially...then I would say no.

We use the old one in my campaigns.

How does it work out in your game?

Thanks for the link.

Grand Lodge

I remember the Living City end of campaign module where the Vow of Poverty feat was used to build an Ettin Monk. I still have nightmares about it. At the time, I and another arcanetrickster put up simultaneous walls of force to contain it and we beat feet out of there after rescuing it's prisoners.

What is the Living City campaign?

There was a good ettin monk?

Because Pathfinder is compatible with 3.0 and 3.5 I give my players the choice of using one or the other...they normally pick the original. It is still used the same way as it used to be, so no one has any problems.

Great!
