I've seen two worth of mentioning. They're both finnish words (I'm a native finn) that've just been taken and put into place, which makes them somewhat amusing. And they're both from Forgotten Realms, too!
First, there's this city of Vaasa in the northern regions of Faerun.
Amusing because: it actually is a city in Finland. To prove my point, here's a link to the english web page of Vaasa.
Second, there's this minor deity named Kiputyttö. She's mentioned in this Fortotten Realms source book of old.
While she actually is some minor deity in the finnish pantheon of old, I've never encountered her before I stumbled upon her in this material oh so long ago
Amusing because: Kiputyttö translates into Pain Girl. Kind of like some angsty-gothy-my-life-sucks-because-I-want-it-to teenager. Not a relly goddessy like of a name.
Let's hear yours!

First, there's this city of Vaasa in the northern regions of Faerun.
Vaasa is an untamed wasteland of frozen moors and tundra located in the Cold Lands of northeast Faerûn. It is a relatively empty land with sporadic farms and the occasional wandering monster. As much of the land is unclaimed, there are many prospectors who come to Vaasa looking for natural treasure, of which it has many. The lands are rich in precious metals and gems, particularly bloodstone.
Vassa in the Forgotten Realms is not a city...
But other than that, much of the Forgotten Realms is taken directly from real-world mythology (which is also very true of D&D in general)...

Was it its own kingdom, then? My memory serves me not, for it has been many years since I had any contact with Faerun..

As my quote above from the Forgotten Realms Wiki said:

:D
This is even more fitting! No frozen moors and tundra up here, but lots of other annoying stuff...

While not 100% in the spirit of the original post...I once ran a homebrew campaign where the "home town" of the heroes was Seattle. It was labeled something else, though. I just turned the map sideways, then traced out the streets, renamed them, and made some changes.
For example, Pike Place Market made a wonderful Arcane Bazaar.

You notice that goddess, but not Loviatar, Ilmater and Mielikki?
To be fair, FR is full of borrowed stuff. Crossroads of the multiverse, that planet.

The mountains in Ted Nasmith's classic depiction of Glorfindel and the Balrog are actually called Los Cuernos del Paine (The Horns of Paine), and are located in southern Chile. I went there last year.
Also, the picture of Good King Sandoval in the roleplaying game 7th Sea was, as confirmed by the artist, based off Leonardo DiCaprio.
