Prone Shooter Feat

I'm not clear how this feat provides any benefit. The Core book (CRB) states that crossbows and shurikens can be shot prone without any penalty (only ranged usable prone). The Ultimate Combat updated the firearms to be like crossbows for prone adjudications.

This feat states it removes penalties for shooting crossbows and/or firearms prone. If the CRB states no penalties, what is this referring to?

The feat doesn't do much of anything as of right now.

Originally, it gave a +1 or +2 bonus to-hit while prone, but was changed for some reason.

Doesn't even do that, as the sling section has Prone Slinger as a prerequisite. All it does is let you ignore the (non-existent) penalty for using a sling while prone.

Wow, I suck at reading. Thanks for pointing that out. Will remove that from the post.

It seems to add a partial proficiency to x-bows and firearms if shot prone, but not sure if/why someone would use a feat slot for that instead of just getting the wp for one of those two weapons...

TimsterMon: It cancels out the penalty for shooting crossbows and firearms while prone. Note: this penalty does not exist so it is canceling out a non-existant penalty. Sometimes these mistakes occur.

Not trying to complain, just want to make sure I'm reading it correctly and if there's been erratta issued (or some other use for it).

Thanks for bouncing it around with me.

There is no errata. The feat just does nothing.

Best advice? Ignore it, and move on.

The dev who wrote that feat stated his draft had that +1 or +2 bonus in it, but it was changed in editing.
He agreed that like this it's a silly feat.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm getting flashbacks to TriOmegaZaro, Trinam, and Darkholme all being in a conversation together. Every single avatar wad Cayden.
