Is summoned monster considered an Ally for Buffs (Heroism Domain Power)

Rules Questions

Hello everyone,

are summoned monsters considered allies? My Cleric has a 30 foot aura of granting heroism. I was wondering if I (sacred summon) Azata Bralanis if they will get the buff?

Thank you

Yes, they are.

Yes, in short. They would benefit from any ally buffing effect such as haste, bless and so on.

Why would you have thought they wouldn't?
Is there a passage in the creature description that lends to a rules question?

Lantern Lodge

To my knowledge they don't specifically say summoned creatures are or aren't, so I would default to the definition of ally. Since they fight on your side I would say they're allies.

And just in case you might be wondering you are your own ally too.

You count as your own ally unless otherwise stated or if doing so would make no sense or be impossible. Thus, "your allies" almost always means the same as "you and your allies."

Rendrin: Most of the time you are your own ally. There are some abilities which you are not (for example, the developers have stated that Gang Up requires 2 allies that are not you in order to benefit).

I think the question comes up because summoning a creature to fight to the death for you is not a very friendly thing to do to that creature -- but by the rules as written, yes, creatures you summon are considered to be your allies while they are summoned.

Creatures who are summoned and die do not die. There is no effect on that creature when it returns to wherever it came from. Called creatures are another matter.

Still -- if summoned creatures do have any sort of independent existence before and after being summoned, they would generally consider the experience to be painful and unpleasant. But that issue is only relevant if you somehow encounter a creature that you once summoned by some means other than summoning it again.

That assumes the summoned creature remembers being summoned. On that note the rules are silent but I run it that summoned creatures are no worse for wear (no memories, no damage, no effect).
