You've got a wizard for sure? Make sure that he covers the Knowledge skills. Then, my advice:

Character A
DPR/Stealth/Tankable
Oread Zen Archer Monk

After racial +2 Str/+2 Wis/-2 Cha, has Str 18 Dex 16 Con 16 Int 11 Wis 20 Cha 10

Crystaline Form in place of the utterly useless Earth Affinity (+2 AC against rays isn't worth much, but it's better than nothing), Granite Skin (+1 AC, racial bonus to natural armor) in place of the not-particularly-useful acid resistance 5. Maybe Mountain-Born in place of the magic stone spell-like ability, since you probably should be shooting arrows instead of throwing stones.

Traits "Nimble Fingers, Keen Mind" and "Reactionary" (+2 init always good)

Four skills Acrobatics, Disable Device, Perception, and Stealth.

Takes hit points as the favored class bonus.

Really comes into its own at 3rd level, when you don't provoke AoOs with the bow (so you're good anywhere) and use Wis for to-hit. This guy will do massive damage flurrying with the bow, will be able to avoid or endure attacks reasonably well, and will be the guy who can scout ahead and disable traps (magic traps will require a caster to dispel). Not a classic tank, but has okay HP and starts at 1st level with unarmored AC 19.

Do not ever take Rapid Shot or Manyshot; they require a full attack to be used, but every time you're full attacking with the bow, you should be using a flurry.

Character B
Divine Caster/Face/UMD/Tankable
Human Oracle of Battle, Tongues Curse.

After racial +2 applied to Cha, has Str 13 Dex 13 Con 18 Int 14 Wis 14 Cha 20

Traits "Fast Talker" and "Dangerously Curious".

Pick Terran as the Tounges curse language; a dwarf wizard can take that as a bonus easily and the oread monk will have it automatically.

Seven skills (4 class 2 Int 1 race): Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Perception, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Use Magic Device.

Takes "Add one spell known from the oracle spell list" as the favored class bonus every single time, because it's that awesome.

Wears heaviest armor he can afford and decent hp, so tanks okay (consider Combat Casting, Warrior Priest). Full divine caster with lots of UMD. Party face between skills and massive Cha.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If you want to dive into a paperwork/ homework intensive class, Druid would be a great choice. You can summon things to help the melee player, your animal companion does the same (thinking with those stat allowance your Wisdom is high enough you don't need the domain). You're a healer, stealth and scout, utility guy, and no slouch on skills. You could be a hybrid fighter and spell caster Druid with those stats.

I did this same concept, but we had an evil campaign.

Antipaladin tank, Dirge bard, and Necromancer, it was just ... sick how well it gelled. Especially the tank healin from negative energy ray, and the bard buffing the undead minions.

For a good party, if you have a wiz, and a tank, you still needa heals/skills/face, and also ranged would be nice.

The zenarcher/inquisitor is fantastic, a ninja/zen archer would be doable with that point buy, there's a lot of things. You need to lock down the style of tank tho, if he's paladin you don't need to be face too, etc.

Dark Archive

Reminds me of a campaign I once did as a dragon shaman in 3.5 where my DM gave us all 18s as our stats. I was new to the game and as such wasn't taking as much advantage of it as I could have but I have to say I learned that dragon shaman could actually heal pretty well post level 7.
