Im currently being asked if i would DM a campaign that ultimately ended in fighting/destroying a lesser or moderate deity from the Forgotten Realms pantheon. my question is, how would i determine the CR rating of these deities?

Epic +

According to the Deities & Demigods and the Faiths & Pantheons books, the deities are typically 20 HD outsiders with 20-40 extra class levels, PLUS their divine abilities.

Yeah. Epic+.

Achaekek seems to be CR30

Edit: Oh sorry, I thought Golarion Gods are an option.

IN PF terminology, only Demigods can be killed by mortals.

Bringing down more powerful gods requires other divine power. Unlike FR, the gods in PF are not dependent on their worshippers.

Note the very silly method of getting rid of Kiaranshalee in the War of the Spider Queen...they cast a spell that wiped memory of her from existence. With no worshippers, she instantly ceased to exist.

Not quite the same in PF.

I actually didn't find that silly at all. In fact, I wondered why people wouldn't just do that if a god's power was tied to its worship. It might be unrealistic with the major villainous gods like Gruumsh, but you could definitely stop some nascent godlings in their tracks by simply erasing their worship.

Actually, killing a god's worshippers has historically been a great way of marginalizing a god, or making them be forgotten. Without worshippers, their influence and/or interest in a world is markedly lessened.

But using a SPELL to simply wipe out knowledge of them? That was the height of cheese.

And realistically, if you start wiping a god's worshippers in one area, they just start proselytizinig in another area and start going after the worshippers of your god, which is actually how the gods play things out...they just tend to do it over time instead of in singular crusades.

I seem to recall Erevis Cale threatening his god with slaughtering his worshipers and defiling his temples, once...

Im Actually reading War of the Spider queen now. i know it would be an EPIC+ but i was actually hoping for more substantial material i know FR is hard to find D&D supplements for online. i plan on incorporating some divine material as well so that the story line is not completely PC empowering, but leaves the stretch of nervousness and interest as well. but erasing a complete gods clergy and worshipers seems kinda hard for a party of 4-5 in all of faerun...

I'm sure there's a 3.0/3.5 book with specific stats if you looked. I'm not sure exactly which one. Dieties and demigods perhaps. Try a google search.

You'd have to go back to the Dragon Magazine issues from the time period of the books, but they actually have most of the major players in the series statted out in them.

Faiths and Pantheons is what your after.

Completely wiping out one's religion should not make you disappear as a god but bring you back to your basic epic self where you need to start all over again.
