Paths of Prestige is on PFSRD.com so I was having a look through at all the PrCs. I quite liked a few of them (Lantern Bearer, Hellknight Signifier) but I've been really looking forward to the Winter Witch.
However, I noticed that
Hyperboreal Patronage
A winter witch's patron reveals an icy aspect, granting her the following spells as patron spells at the following class levels:
1st—ice spears, 3rd—wall of ice, 5th—icy prison, 7th—freezing sphere, 9th—fire storm (deals cold damage instead of fire).
Firestorm, dealing cold damage but it doesn't have the cold descriptor and it still has the fire descriptor. Ice Magic blocks Winter Witches from learning and casting fire spells. So not only does it not get a buff but you can't use it? (This is the same line of reasoning behind Crossblooded Sorcerers) Or is this a copy error from PFSRD? I don't have the book so I wasn't sure.
tl;dr Can't use Firestorm with Ice Magic?

I assumed that too but there's nothing saying that that happens...
EDIT: For reference:
If you look at other abilities that change the energy type used (such as the Admixture Wizard's Versatile Evocation ability, you'll see that it is standard for these spells to change descriptors. Basically, anytime a spell deals only one type of energy damage, it gains that descriptor.

These (referring to the energy changing abilities?) aren't spells, Elemental Spell gives no such descriptor, and it's specifically called out in Versatile Evocation.
I would think because Versatile Evocation has it specifically mentioned that adding or altering descriptors is not normally what happens when you change energy types. Otherwise it would be a general rule and there'd be no need to apply a specific one.
