Lycanthrope Template & Ability Scores

Rules Questions

Tried Necroing a thread but as that didn't get me an answer lets' try this gain. Do you use your STR & CON +2 or the animals ability scores in hybrid form? Or do you get STR & CON +2 atop your scores or the animals if those are higher? The wording on the Lycanthrope template is somewhat vague, or at least enough that I don't have a definite answer. And as a player of mine is comming into the the party soon as a Were-Bear I need an answer.

Now, I initially believed the later(the bears stats, +2 to STR & CON) was correct after a cursory glance at threads on the topic in this forum. However upon further review, and looking at the entries in the beastiary and on the d20pfsrd,stuffs not adding up if that's right. Take Werebears, for example, they have 21 STR of the bear, and not 23 STR in their listing. And it's not just werebears, it's wolves, tigers, board... So, unless they're *all* misprints it appears that the correct way to do so is to add +2 to your STR & CON in hybrid form and then replace it if the base animal's is still higher after the bonus.

Now, doubt still remains in that I heard there was an errata or something among conflicting reports. However I can't find a link to said clarification if it exists.

So at this point I require confirmation of which is the correct way to stat a lycanthrope character in hybrid form. Which is it? Thanks in advance.

The template has this to say about attributes:

Quote:
Ability Scores: +2 Wis, –2 Cha in all forms; +2 Str, +2 Con in hybrid and animal forms. Lycanthropes have enhanced senses but are not fully in control of their emotions and animalistic urges. In addition to these adjustments to the base creature's stats, a lycanthrope's ability scores change when he assumes hybrid or animal form. In human form, the lycanthrope's ability scores are unchanged from the base creature's form. In animal and hybrid form, the lycanthrope's ability scores are the same as the base creature's or the base animal's, whichever ability score is higher.

For the Werebear -

Human: Str 16, Dex 14, Con 13, Int 12, Wis 12, Cha 8
Hybrid: Str 21, Dex 14, Con 19, Int 12, Wis 12, Cha 8
Bear: Str 21, Dex 13, Con 19, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 6

The template suggests that the original human had a wisdom and charisma both of 10. Then in hybrid form he should have EITHER human strength/con +2 OR base form strength or con (the last sentence of the quoted rules.

So it is either 16+2 and 13+2 or 21 and 19. For the bigger animals, like bears and tigers and probably wolves, this will almost always be the stats from the base form. But I could see werecrows or werebunnies using the human+2 math.

Werebunnies!!!

Okay, that's what I thought too upon realizing my error, but I needed the confirmation. Thanks for the timely, and concise, reply sir.
