Kingmaker campaign, Druid's "Large Cat" AC was eaten by Bulettes. Nom.
He wants to reincarnate his AC rather than find a new one; he has access to the spell itself. Frankly, I've got no problem with this - I mean, it's functionally no different from just summoning a new one.
I'm thinking, though - and he's okay with this - that I should randomize what kind of creature his AC comes back as. Obviously, the table for humanoids in the Core book is no good. I'm thinking of making a custom table to just randomize what type of AC he gets back - and I'm not going to put things like aquatic creatures on the table because that's not fun for anyone.
So... thoughts? Am I missing something, or not thinking this through all the way? I'm less interested in whether this is technically legal, like if Reincarnation can't work on animals (as far as I'm concerned, fun trumps legality), but I am wondering if I have overlooked some bizarre consequence of letting this happen.

I'd personally be fine with it. I'd go through the animal companions list, make yourself a nice little table. Make sure there's a few options on there that are of the more "bizarre" options rather than your average wolf/bear/big lizard/bug/etc. companions, so there's a chance it comes back as something really unusual. Otherwise, looks pretty simple and straightforward. It of course wouldn't keep any racial bonuses or special abilities - if the cat comes back as a bear, it's not gonna keep its Pounce - so the chances of it suddenly breaking stuff isn't going to be likely.
Let us know what happens. =) I'll laugh my head off if it comes back as a bullette.

Reincarnate specifically says For non-humanoid creatures, a similar table of creatures of the same type should be created. It's an unusual move to reincarnate an animal companion. For the same cost, one could use the spell Raise Animal Companion

I'd just take the list of possible AC and assign percentages to the different animals.
And while doing that I'd give the type of animal that the AC was before reincarnating a slightly larger chance.
So 1% for the exotic ones, 3% for the normal ones and 5% for the original race or something like that. But as I don't know without checking how many different AC races exist giving exact numbers is hard.
