Base Movement Rates by Size

Rules Questions

This might seem like an odd question, but do creatures automatically increase their base land speed movement rate as they increase in size?

In looking at the giants in the Bestiary, it appears that they have a +10-ft. to their base movement rate over medium humanoids.

If there is such a rule, where can I find it?

(I have a character in my party that has recently been permanently increased in size from medium to large and may, eventually, be permanently increased to huge size.)

Sovereign Court

Nope, no such rule.

may want to think about house ruling it, it seems weird that a huge creature would be as fast as a medium creature over land.

Sovereign Court

I dunno, then you'd have to go through all Bestiaries with a fine comb, estimate how much more powerful each monster would become if you can't outrun or outmaneuver it anymore. Might be more trouble than it's worth.

Also, I don't think any of the Enlarge Person-like spells really need to be more powerful.

Size doesn't mechanically dictate speed. There is even an order of the stick comic making ng jokes about it when the dwarf gets enlarged. When a monster is designed many of them are given faster speeds.

The way its done now means we can have a plodding stone statue otherwise they would all have 40 ft move.

Grand Lodge

Increases in size do not increase speed. There is even a Duergar only feat that increases speed while using his Enlarge Person Spell-Like Ability, noting that this usually does not happen.

Thanks, everyone.

I've decided to leave the speed increase out of the size increase.
