I ad a player to day that was a 3rd level magus, with out casting spells, just a normal swing of the sword was doing +7 to his damage. I asked in the game for a little clarification but I did not want to slow the game down to much..so I did not push the subject. He spouted something out about weapon finesse and dervish dancer. This allowed him to add dex into his damage....still +7 right out of the gate with out any magic. So did a little reading....it seems dervish dancer is a bard archtype. That wouldn't do it.
So am I missing something? I could not find a feat that allowed me to add dex bonus to damage....I see the Agile magic weapons but I asked that he dd not have one. So thought I would ask here and see what I get

There is a feat, called Dervish Dance, that allows a person to use their Dex instead of their Str to deal damage with a scimitar 1 handed, with nothing in the other hand (no weapon, shield, potion, whatever). To get a +7 to damage, he needs to have a 24 Dex with the feat. My guess is he's adding his Dex to his Str, which is not what the feat does.

The inner sea world guide had Dervish Dance which is a feat you can take that allows you to add your dex to damage with scimitar, while using weapon finesse.
So assuming he has a 20 dex thats +5 damage and another +1 if the weapon is magical. Has he obtained any other magical items?

As what everyone else has said, must be Weapon Finesse, Dervish Dance, and maybe Arcane Strike.
Unless Chronicle Sheet, there is no way he could have an agile weapon at level 3. (+1 Agile Scimitar requires about 4th or 5th level in prestige points. I couldn't get a +1 Keen Scimitar until then as well.)
Just a heads up: If you do GM for him again, keep in mind it is only for a scimitar, he cannot have anything else in his other hand (no buckler).

Great thanks for the info...its funny that the PFS PRD website does not have the inner sea guide listed. That is usually where I start my searching.
It makes sense but man it seems like all of damage for a 3rd level character...with his spells he was able to one shot all most every thing on the table.

While lvl 3 is the sweet spot for a Dervish Magus and it is indeed good damage there are higher damaging lvl 3 builds.
But yes 3-6 magus is on the upper end as he more or less has something good he can do as a full round attack before others do. Lvl 6 he falls more in the middle.
The thing to keep in mind is many builds have sweet spots. This is his.
