Advice

I have been trying to find an ideal image for a character in my campaign and was hoping someone would appreciate the challenge.

Female Half Elf Sorcerer.

6'4" , 170lbs. , Long Red hair, Violet eyes, she has a charisma of 20.

The pictures I find just don't convey the sheer magnitude of her looks, she's built up her Intimidate skill big time, because the player actually figured out the other way to use Intimidate.

Using her raw beauty to turn male characters into quivering lumps who will obey her and using her stature to intimidate females.

Basically, the character intends to use her powers and physical attributes to find a way to rule the elves, to prove the elves' disdain for halfbreeds wrong.

We have pics for the rests of the party, but this character is a challenge we've yet to figure out.

Can anyone help?

The website is down for maintenance at the moment, but conceptart.org has two forums for commissioning work; One paid, the other unpaid. Note, however, that most artists will expect, or should expect, some form of payment for their work.

100%! If you can't find anyone through Conceptart.org, you can check out deviantART, too; lots of peeps looking for commission work on deviantART, and you can get some INCREDIBLE artwork that way.

It's an indulgence, but I love buying artwork of my D&D characters for myself. I especially love Lone Momo, Budgie, Karla Diaz, ShakSaag (especially for exotic races, mounts, etc!), Erina, and Ionen; though they may not be accepting commissions right at this time.

Everwho I think takes commissions, but I'm not positive, and Caria0's prices are so low that I think I must be misreading something. Chief Ord and Ziyo Ling do colourful, cute character art, but are both full for their commission queue. You could watch their journals for a bit and snag a slot when they're available again, though, if you wanted.

Anyway, um, just browse around, either on deviantART, on ConceptArt.org, or on some other site that artists frequent and use to find work, and it's not hard to find people who are taking commissions within your price range.

I'm not sure that's what Indimidate is intended for.

Or... I'm not sure a Bearded Devil or a Goblin would be intimidated in such ways.

Anyway, do you have any preference or restriction about style (such as "no manga-style")?

Meanwhile, try these:

I appreciate the advice from everyone.

The three pictures are very good, as for style preference, I'm hoping to find something more photorealistic.

Shiramune style? Or more?

That's close.

Slightly more than that, tho.

The Oracle seems like it would be a nice fit. If you'd like, I can taper the ears easily enough.

Lina also stands out as an extremely powerful, confident, scary, and sexy sorceress. It would be a cinch to change her eye color to violet as well.

Check the pictures of Edea from Final Fantasy 8. She is vile and beautiful sorceress. You can google them easily.

Lina is the closest I've seen yet.

Would prefer she looked properly big.

Properly big? Are you referring to her height or her bust? The latter is easily fixed, the former not so much. Height shouldn't be a problem as is though, if she were to stand up straight in the image, she could easily be over 6'.

What would it take to make Lina look like what you are looking for? As a professional graphic designer, I'm a master at digital manipulation. I'd be happy to edit it to your taste (practice makes perfect and all that).

I learned a long time ago, it's easier to find an image close to what you are looking for in a character, then to edit it to suit--or else to base your concept off of a pre-existing image.

I must be a masochist then because I prefer to draw my characters. :P

On the subject of height, it's very difficult to get an exact height with out some reference or sense of scale. That's why a lot of vehicle concept art has a little stick man to give the viewer a sense of scale. That said, she could very well be about 6'3" to 6'5"

I was referring to the height.

The best way I can think of is to maybe elongate the neck and the limbs, make her look a little more elven.

If possible.

She's 4th level at the moment and she's aberrenl, which means she has Long Limbs, and it'd be nice to represent it.

Much of what you've asked for would essentially require repainting large portions of the image, which I'm not going to do, but I will see what I can do for you.

I can change her eye color and might even be able narrow her abdomen, butt, and cheeks--hopefully giving her a more slender appearance.

Don't think I'm going to be able to extend the neck, and definitely not the arms, without distorting the whole image horrifically.

Here are the changes to Lina. Keep an eye on it, as the animation switches between the before and after every 2 seconds.

If you like it, I will send you the jpeg of the "after."

Go ahead and send it so I can get a better look.

I like the improvements to the body, and love the eyes, but not loving the long face, the nose and chin are a little witchy.

Could you put the face shape back?

Then it will be excellent.

Man, you better thank him for all the job with one picture.

:P

Fixed. What do you think now?

(You can use the previous link.)

That, dear sir, is absolutely perfect.

You are a gentleman and a scholar.

I sincerely appreciate it.
