Scare

Rules Questions

I'm not sure how the spell scare works.

I understand how Cause Fear works. roll a savings throw if you fail you are frightened if us succeed you are shaken for a round. And if you have 6 or more HD you are immune to the shaken part.

How does Scare change this. I feel kind of dumb asking.

Silver Crusade

Scare can affect multiple targets.

Okay so let me get it straight:

Cause fear makes creature with 5 or fewer HD Frightened unless they make a saving throw in which case they are shaken.

Scare works exactly the same except that you can target more then one creature if you have the levels.

Right?

Silver Crusade

Right, they both do have the same affect.

Difference is at level 6 the caster using Scare can potentially frighten 2(max 6 at level 18) creatures vs Cause Fear which can only ever target one creature.

I think Scare is worded horribly.

I read:

"except that it causes all targeted creatures of less than 6 HD to become frightened."

but I should have read:

"except that it causes all targeted creatures of less than 6 HD to become frightened."

I guess that shows me I should always read the Spell Descriptors and not just the Description.
