Animal companion, multiattack

Rules Questions

Hi.
Iv read in the rules that it states:
Multiattack

An animal companion gains Multiattack as a bonus feat if it has three or more natural attacks and does not already have that feat. If it does not have the requisite three or more natural attacks, the animal companion instead gains a second attack with its primary natural weapon, albeit at a –5 penalty.

So im wondering, is this something an animal with minimum 3 attacks gets at level 1, or are we talking about the level level 9?

Level 9.

Animal companions have level progressions similar to PCs. MULTIATTACK isn't listed til level 9, ergo, they don't gain the ability until level 9.

However, if you suspect your game won't make it to level 9, or you're just impatient, you could always bump your Animal Companion's INT to 3 at level 4 and give it multittack as a feat at level 5.

Be aware that many animal companions don't need the Multiattack feat, as they have three or more natural attacks which are already all primary.

Of the Core Rolebook AC's, those who don't need Multiattack are Ape, Badger, Bear, Bird, Cat (big and small), and Dinosaur.
