Best Feats for an Eidolon

Advice

In my new game I play a summoner and I just leveled up to level 3. It says in the book that my eidolon gets a second feat. The one's I already have are evasion(given at level 2) and I took dodge at level 1. Should I take mobility, or is there something better for a level 3 serpentine eidolon? I wanted multiattack but I get it later plus I can't take it yet because I only have 2 nat attacks Thanks.

Question about your future evolution plans: do you intend to add on wings and flight to the eidolon at some point? If so, then Mobility might not be the best choice. Weapon Focus (bite) might make more sense, though if you intend to go for Spring Attack, of course Mobility is a good choice.

Well, multi attack isn't probably needed, due to it not doing anything unless you take many secondary attacks. Which you should avoid since there are many good primary attacks you have access to.

Have you looked into getting final embrace? It opens the ability to grab and constrict same size enemies. The snake eidolon is quite good at contricting things, and this combined with enlarge person lets you constrict large enemies way early.

That looks just about perfect for final embrace except I do have one question:

Will it just allow me to constrict enemies my size and smaller or will it also give me constrict and grab as free evolutions? Because in the feat description it says "You gain the constrict and grab special attacks."

P.s. I can't use enlarge person on my eidolon(it's for humanoids only)

Thanks just let me know about the free evolution thing.

Share Spells (Ex)

The summoner may cast a spell with a target of “you” on his eidolon (as a spell with a range of touch) instead of on himself. A summoner may cast spells on his eidolon even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the eidolon’s type (outsider). Spells cast in this way must come from the summoner spell list.

This ability does not allow the eidolon to share abilities that are not spells, even if they function like spells.

Oh yes you can!

if you read the eidolon rules it says that you can cast spells on the Eidolon that would affect your character, even if they have a range of personal or do not affect creatures of its type (outsider).

For the issue of qualifying for final embrace, I've been confused on that one, due to how the requirements are worded. Hero lab does not let you select final embrace normally without constrict evo, but once you have it it says its legal even if you take away the evo. As a GM I would allow serpent eidolons to select it for my game, but for PFS or other GMs I don't presume to know the ruling.

As for enlarge person, you can use it on your eidolon. Look up how you can cast personal spells on your eidolon, and ignore the restriction on outsider. Look up "share spells" special ability.

Another feat that might be worth your time is combat reflexes. Serpent eidolons get reach with their bite. With expanded reach you can move into an area to lock-down movement and provoking actions. Since they get a sizable bonus to dex, this is potentially a fair number of attacks. Should make progress to the damage potential you sacrifice for going with the snake form.

But I'm confused about share spells, is my DM wrong because I asked him saying that and he said that I can't use it even then. And as for the constrict and grab evolution I should just ask my DM unless anyone knows for sure? Thanks:)

My standard suite is usually Weapon Focus: Claws (since I usually have 2, 4 or 6 claw attacks), Improved Critical: Claws (for the same reasons). Combat Reflexes is always good, especially with Reach attacks and the Push evolution.

Since I like to go large and huge, I'll take Power Attack, Furious Focus, Dreadful Carnage and Intimidating Prowess. With the Skilled: Intimidate evolution and ranks in Intimidate the first kill will likely perma-shaken the entire battlefield. Lightning Reflexes is also a good one since Eidolons get Evasion and Improved Evasion.

Another non-feat related thing to consider: Going Half-elf is obviously optimal since you can get a number of extra evolution points out of it, and then there is the Wild Caller racial class which nets you even more free evolution points. Now, Half-Elves get a free Skill Focus feat and Summoners need high Charisma scores... that opens you up to taking the Eldritch Heritage for the Orc Bloodline. The first feat (after you use your Skill Focus feat for Survival) grants you the ability to cast 'Touch of Rage' 3+CHA mod/day - essentially granting your eidolon +1/2 your level to attack and damage rolls for one round. Considering the number of attacks eidolons can make in a round, this is a terribly useful combination even if you decide not to progress the Eldritch Heritage feat line any further.

You GM is "wrong" in the sense that it is printed in black and white RAW that you can cast any spell off of the Summoner Spell list even if it has a restriction of Self, You or Humanoid on your Eidelon. But not in the sense that its his game and if he wants to disallow it then he totally can.
