EW quotes writer Geoff Johns: "This is the new status quo"

IMO, this is a stupid idea. Superman's connection to Lois Lane has always been an important part of the character.

And Superman having his way with the Amazon is an attempt to bring about a n evil offspring who will rule Earth under the Identity known as 'Monarch'. Why else breed for super human babies?

It's been done before. It won't last.

Even if they plan it too.

Nothing ever lasts in comicbooks.

The tough thing will be coordinating it over two very different series.

Since the Lois/Clark marriage was retconned out of existence, I'm game for something different. Even if it only makes a Clark/Lois/Diana triangle a future possibility...

To me Johns has been going downhill a long time as a writer. I haven't really been a fan of anything he's done since his original Justice Society run.

I have to say I quit reading comics for the most part after the latest universal reset. Tastes differ, but Superman without his red briefs is a sure sign something isn't right.

I find that emotional attachments to the color of a fictional man's outside-underwear is a sure sign that something isn't right.

On topic, it's been done before, and I am certain it will be done again. Hopefully this time is more interesting than the last.

I actually preferred the Batman/Wonder Woman pairing from the DCAU.

Yep, that had cool possibilities.

As to Johns, I loved what he did with Superman towards the end of the DCAU; where I experienced the start of disappointment was with Blackest Night (too overwrought, too long) and GL's War of Light.

This wouldn't be the first time that Wonder Woman and Superman have gotten it together. The sexual tension betweent the two has been an off and on thing. For Supes Wonder Woman may well be asurrogatge Lois given that he's got the Man of Steel/Woman of Tissue Paper problem with Lane.

I cant help but think of the monologue from Mallrats.

Nice "Man of steel" trailer!

Perhaps the most disheartening aspect of this turn of events is that it adds yet another hurdle to Wonder Woman X Power Girl becoming canon.

Yeah, I distinctly remember Superman and Wonder Woman kissing on the cover of one of the 60th anniversary Superman issues back in the 80s. Which just goes with the idea that the folks at DC are just trying to do a horrible job of recreating the DCU of their youths while making it "edgy" and "now."

I know so many people personally who've stopped reading DC since the New 52, or narrowed their subs to a very small number. Obviously that's anecdotal and localized to my universe, but I have to wonder how their sales are doing over all, now that the rush to buy all the #1s have died down.

And speaking of sales... of course "the kiss" cover is a big marketing gimmick. That's all DC Comics is these days.

Woo, that was a fun rush of nerdrage! I'm done now.

(Also, I *might* pick up the new Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld if they actually put it out.)

All the 'major' titles (characters most casual comic readers can name) are doing the same or better even a full year later than before the relaunch, with the exception of Green Lantern Corps. While angering many fans, it also pulled more back in. From a pure business standpoint, the relaunch is a success. (and I wish I could find the link again for this, I read it a couple of weeks ago)

I ended dropping my Justice League sub before the relaunch. My own opinion is that if it doesn't have Mr. J'onzz, it isn't the Justice League, no matter what it says on the cover. Thankfully, he is coming back to something other than Stormwatch sometime next year.

Currently reading (only listing DC)...

New Guardians
Ressurection Man
Nightwing
Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps

Dropped....
Stormwatch
Hawkman
Batwoman (wasn't my thing, sadly)

Adding....
Justice League of America
Wonder Woman (in trades)

This is only my perspective, however.

And now to the main point of the thread.

I don't mind myself. A Superman - Wonder Woman pairing has been teased on a semi-regular basis, both in alternate history/future comics, and as a potential romantic rivalry with Lois. Pre-Nu52, the narrative between Clark and Diana often left me feeling that the only reason they didn't hook up was because he met Lois first. If Superman's closest friend isn't Batman, it's Wonder Woman. Basically, I'm saying this isn't something completly out of left field.

According to Chuck Rozanski of Mile High Comics, the New 52 has reinvigorated DC sales--enough to trigger Marvel's impending NOW restarts...

As a child, I always thought that Superman and Wonder Woman getting together would be a natural fit. However, seeing Diana Prince and Clark together in one episode of Superfriends kind of hinted why Clark and Diana can't get it together. Her Diana Prince alter-ego is just too dominate for Clark.

I thought Lois was too much for Clark, too. But they got married. Superman is better off with someone who can be sweet and handle the times when his Jerky half comes out (there are a lot of "Superman is a Dick" covers).

I current read GL and GL New Guardians, though. Although the new Aquaman Comic seems to be something I should be reading.

HOLY SHIT!!!

THEY'RE REDOING GEMWORLD?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I GOTTA GET THAT!!!!!

Yep, just found out title is actually "Sword of Sorcery" and will include Gemworld, Beowulf, and other comics-fantasy stories being rebooted.

Apparently it's already out to #2 or 3--I gotta catch up!
